The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid. The number of stills at Macallan has grown over the years along with the whiskies popularity. In 1965 the stills where increased from 6-12, in 1974 from 12-18 stills and in 1975 the number was increased to 21 stills.
All the whisky produced at the distillery is matured in Oloroso sherry casks. 75% of production is sold as single malt and the remaining 25% goes into blends such as Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark, J & B, Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s or Long John.

The Macallan single malt is a favourite with malt whisky drinkers worldwide and is often given the label “The Rolls-Royce of single malts”
Colour: Pale Straw.
Nose: Complex, with hints of fruit and heather honey.
Taste: Soft, with a maltiness, balanced with oak and fruit.
Finish: Lingering with hints of oak and fruit.
Ubuntu 10.04
Having one disk with both windows and ubuntu, I always seem to run into ‘trouble’ installing a new version of ubuntu.
Why install a new version? upgrade would’ve been possible but going from 8.10 to 10.04 is a big step. Also taking into consideration added sources, I was pretty sure a clean install was the best option.
As it has been two year since I since I last installed Ubu next to the Win…. I forgot how to do it.. MBR’s, grub (or even worse grub2), windows bootloader.

Gimmelwald Zwitserland
Een paar dagen in de Zwitserse Alpen doet een mens goed.
Samen met een paar vrienden zijn we afgereisd naar Gimmelwald Zwitserland om daar een paar dagen in een hostel te verblijven.
Gimmelwald is alleen bereikbaar met een lift die je van 800m maar zo’n 1400m brengt. Het is een unieke locatie tussen de hoogste bergen van de alpen (Schilthorn, Jung Frau e.d.). Je kan er veel activiteiten ondernemen zoals wandelen, mountainbiken, paragliden e.d.
We verbleven in mountianhostel. Dit unieke hostel biedt plaats voor zo’n 50 backpackers en lotgenoten. Dit zijn vooral Amerikanen die Europa ontdekken en er rondreizen.
Omdat het om een hostel gaat moet je geen luxe verwachten. Het onderkomen is erg basic maar voldoende. Een kleine eigenaardigeheid is wel dat ze een grote schoonmaak houden tussen 9:30 en 11:00 uur waarbij je geacht wordt het hostel te verlaten.
De prijs is voor zwitsersche maatstaven normaal: 26CHF pppn.
